A one-off coffee table made for a client who wanted something with character at the centre of their sitting room. The starting point was a single live edge slab with plenty of grain and natural figuring.
The top was flattened and sanded to a smooth, usable surface while keeping the organic outline and bark edge intact. A clear oil finish was applied to bring out the colour and protect the timber without hiding its natural features.
Slim black hairpin legs were chosen to keep the visual weight low and let the slab do the talking. The result is a table that works as both a practical surface and a statement piece.
